CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

National brand Category Managers are responsible for growing profitable sales for AWG’s members for the items and categories in their charge. To accomplish their goals, the Category Managers focus on several key areas:

Item Mix
The Category Manager works with the Center Store Director in each division to ensure the proper mix of products are carried to support their Members’ needs. Our Merchandising team then builds plan-o-grams using the agreed upon assortment. Multiple sized POGs are developed to ensure all stores needs are met.

Promotions
Working with our vendor/supplier community, Category Managers negotiate promotional opportunities for our Members.

Cost
The Category Manager is responsible for negotiating the lowest cost possible for their products. Our Inventory Management department ensures products are bought in the best brackets to deliver the best possible price.

Category Plans
Each Category Manager follows a prescribed schedule of category updates so that our merchandising plans are current and relevant to today’s market, including the latest item developments, shelf sets, and competitive situations.
